ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ricardo Vivar Lepe was born in Putaendo, Chile, in 1948. Since he was young he worked in his father's workshop, where he learned the basic metal arts. He trained as a metal sculptor in Geneva, Swizerland (1974-1980), where he worked mostly in small format sculpture, with scrap materials. He lived in Mexico from 1981 to 2001, where he ran a mixed industrial-artistic machine shop integrating industrial technologies to his conceptual sculpture work, which became large scale and outdoor-oriented. He returned to his home town in 2002, where he directs the Cart Cemetery Sculpture Park, as the author of this initiative. He is a member of the International Sculpture Center www.sculpture.org
